Kristin Chenoweth appears in the Hulu true-crime documentary "Keeper of the Ashes: The Oklahoma Girl Scout Murders" and explains her connection with the shocking crimes.
Hulu enlarged its true-crime documentary catalog with ABC News' "Keeper of the Ashes: The Oklahoma Girl Scout Murders." It is a four-part docuseries about the 1977 murders of Lori Farmer, Michelle Guse, and Doris Milner.
Kristin Chenoweth appears in the trailer that was released on May 16, 2022. She narrates some of the things that happened back then and even answers questions from investigators. But how is she related to the Oklahoma Girl Scout murders?

WHO IS KRISTIN CHENOWETH?

Chenoweth has never married, but she is engaged to musician Josh Bryant. Their first meeting was unusual as they both attended the 2016 wedding of Chenoweth's niece in different roles: she was a guest, and he was one of the performers.
They reconnected two years later at the wedding of Chenoweth's nephew and gave love a try. In 2021, Josh Bryant and Kristin Chenoweth announced their engagement.
HOW IS KRISTIN RELATED TO THE GIRL SCOUT MURDERS?
Chenoweth surprised her fans in May 2022 after appearing on "Keeper of the Ashes: The Oklahoma Girl Scout Murders," mainly because she has not had many hosting or narrating gigs throughout her career. However, those murders were very close to her heart.
The Tony Award-winning actress explained that she was friends with Lori Farmer, Michelle Guse, and Doris Milner, the three Girl Scouts who were assaulted and killed at Camp Scott, Oklahoma, in 1977.
Apart from digging into the crimes, the docuseries also explores their impact on the victims' friends and family.
Chenoweth pointed out that she was also a Girl Scout and was supposed to go on that same camping trip. Unfortunately, she couldn't make it, which probably saved her life. In the trailer, Chenoweth said:
"This is a story I wish I never had to tell. It haunts me every day. […] I should have been on that trip, but I had gotten sick. It has stuck with me my whole life. I could have been one of them."

Gene Leroy Hart was arrested and charged with the girls' murders, but a jury acquitted him of all crimes in 1979. Since he had escaped from prison in 1973, he was sent back to jail to finish his previous sentences.
In May 2022, the Mayes County Sheriff's Department revealed that they reopened the case and conducted DNA tests that indicated Hart was likely responsible for the murders. However, Hart died in June 1979.
